Common Snapping Turtle

Description:

Large aquatic turtle with a big pointed head, long thick tail, and small plastron. The carapace is brown/black and usually smeared with algae and mud.

Habitat:

These turtles are found in just about every aquatic habitat imaginable. This one here was spotted near a large stream that runs through the city of Springfield, MO.
