Ring-necked Snake

Diadophis punctatus

Description:

Yellow to red underside with an orange ring around the neck. It was very small. I thought it was a long worm at first glance. Curls up the tail when it feels threatened.

Habitat:

Seen crossing the sidewalk on my campus. I picked it up and one of the maintenance workers brought it to a safe place.
