Yellow-crowned Night-heron, juvenile

Nyctanassa violacea

Notes:

I found this young heron, sleeping by the shore at the Carpenter Lagoon that lies in the middle of my city Tampico,Mexico, very near from downtown. There is a great number of different species that live or overwinter in this region surrounded by lagoons, Panuco river and the sea. I tought that may be a green heron, cause I've seen an adult green heron around at the same spot and the same day, another guess its that may be a yellow crowned heron but I've never seen one around here. Hope someone can help ID this baby!

Hi rosygu61, this spotting is considered identified in the database because you still have a reference link associated with the spotting. Therefore people are not seeing that is not yet identified. I provided you with an ID suggestion 2 days, you can check out the link in the suggestion and look at photos of the immature and see if you agree with it. If not, then please remove the reference link so the database recognizes this as unidentified, thanks!
