Eurymela distincta
Hopper specialising on eucalyptus. To 12mm long. This one red-pink underneath and upper femurs, bronze tinted wings, the rest black with 'hypnotic' black and white eyes.
On the smaller stems of eucalyptus (E. microcarpa?) in groups with attendant ants and younger nymphs.

Also called 'leaf hopper'

Thanks ladies! I have almost worked out the complex lives these lead and why they come in such a variety of colours. Certain species of trees and ants etc. etc.
