Lophophanes cristatus
Also known as European Crested Tit, this small bird from tit family (Paridae) is smaller than sparrow, and has brownish upperparts and dirty whitish underparts. Head is neatly patterned in black and white, and shows characteristic triangular crest, always visible.
Crested Tit is the resident breeder in deciduous woodland in France. Here seen in urban setting of Marseille, mixed wooded area of a city park around Basilique.
Another lucky encounter during our visit to Marseille, on slopes of park leading to Marseille basilique. Thanks to someone who placed this bird feeding stuff on trees, this two quietly enjoyed their meal, while I was quietly enjoying the photo session...
