Neotropical Ground Lizard

Family: Tropiduridae

Description:

Body length about 10cm, excluding the tail. Top of the head is brown, distinct from the sand coloured body; a dark line runs from the nostrils past the eyes, and dark markings across the back and tail.

Habitat:

Found in an arid area on the western slope of the Ecuadorian Andes, called "Desierto de Jubones", at about 1500m above sea level.
