Bullock's Oriole Nest

Icterus galbula bullockii

Description:

Never saw the actual resident clearly, although I could see a shadow bopping around in the branches. Soooo frustrating! But this nest is so pretty, I was [partially] satisfied. Hung about 10 ft from the ground.

Habitat:

Saw this at a small nature trail a bit over the Utah/Idaho border on the Idaho side. ; meadow, thickets, small lake. A nice park, with a surprisingly high number of birds! Nest hangs from a branch about 10 ft up. Woven of strips of plant fiber and lined with fine grasses, hair, fuzz. (sounds comfortable!).
