A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Columba livia
The true Rock Dove, which shares the same scientific name, is extremely rare in the wild, as most were domesticated hundreds of years ago and interbred with Stock Doves for racing, messaging etc., later escaping or being released back into the wild all over the world. It is 99.99% certain that most people will only ever see the Feral variety which have as many plumages as there are cities in the world!
