Alder Flycatcher

Empidonax alnorum

Description:

To the right of the bird feeder on a must unusual Mississippi winter, there were 2 Alder Flycatchers. They have a dull, olive-gray to greenish olive back and 2 whitish wing bars.

Habitat:

Breeds in wet thickets; prefers alder, maple or birch.

Notes:

Even though they mostly eat insects, they will result to eating from the bird feeder in winter.

They are, when they're breeding! Here, it's winter and they loose a lot of their brilliant yellow color. Check out these images:

American goldfinches are yellower; these are greenish-olive sorry the picture quality was not good :-(

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I don't see any flycatchers here. The 2 birds on the bottom right of the feeder are much more likely American Goldfinches.
