Toxomerus boscii
Small yellowish fly with dark red eyes and clear wings. Found hovering and landing on some flowers in a semi rural area in a back yard. Some Syrphid fly larvae are beneficial predators, feeding on aphids while others feed on decaying vegetation. Many of the adults mimic bees and wasps but they are harmless and do not bite or sting.
