Dysdercus lunulatus
Okay, I hope I got this one right. Fyi, it is only here when the hampea appendiculata is fruiting (December-mid February), when there are tons of them, the vast majority paired up like this. Then they disappear. The larger one is about 2 cm.
They're baaaaaccccckkkk... Once a year my hampea appendiculata fruits, and a month or so into that these guys appear. Last year there were many hundreds of them, all over the house and the tree and the ground (and in my coffee), plus their nymphs (?). There are a lot less this year, no idea why. If you're at all interested in having toucans come visit, get yourself one of these trees. Sloths too.
Thanks, Thorsten. I almost got crazy about this one. Everytime when I had a match, the color of the legs and the head ruin the game again...
Pyrrhocoridae, Dysdercus sp. and based on the typical markings, i. e. black legs and black parts on the head, this one should be Dysdercus lunulatus.

Hi Sue, could you please add this spotting to my mission "Insects of Costa Rica"? Thanks!
