thank you for the id liam! the mama bird was definitely a cardinal!

First flight is often down to the ground. Next one is into the bushes and then they are up, up and away! But the parents will feed them for a few more days. Many parents take their young well away from the nest as soon as they can move on their own to avoid predation.

o no! i hope he's ok. i passed by about two hours later again and didn't see the baby bird or adults.
