Gold Finch

Carduelis tristis

Description:

One of the many finches living in the hedge row, as well as the back thicket. I hang thistle seed in this sock like feeder to attract them for viewing from the bay window, where my computer sits.

Alice, thank you for the compliment. The thistle sock feeder is actually a great purchase. (very cheap I think I paid maybe 5.00 for it at one of the local farm supply stores). They last a long time too! I've had this one for about 8 years now, and it stays outside year round.

I like your picture, your story and your idea of the sock!

:)

Thank you Gerardo! I love these little guys, they are so colorful and so much fun to watch as they are extremely social birds.

Nice shot!
