Oriental Common Evening Brown

Melanitis leda leda

Description:

DSF - Dry Season Form... This butterfly has amazing camouflage. It settles amongst dry leaves, and if you take your eyes off it, it is really difficult to see again. It blends in perfectly with the leaves.

Habitat:

This one was also hiding under a bush in my garden

That's what I though also David, then the other spotting must be the wet season form, and it's monsoon here now, so that figures, but I found them both on the same day! Odd!

thanks Stephen. Yes, I had to keep my eye on it all the time. The minute I looked away it was really hard to see it again! It just blended in with the dried leaves.
