Lichen Argaric

Opmphalina ericetorum

Description:

small,moist, brownish cap, fading to yellow, with cream-yellow gills descending brownish stalk; with lichen or in moss. .5-3.5 cm wide cap. Season: June-September; March-May and October-November on Pacific Coast.

Habitat:

Scattered to several, in moss or soil or on conifer logs, but always associated with the lichen Botrydina vulgaris. ( I found these at Little Qualicum Falls Park)

Notes:

Also known as Gerronema ericetorum. this is reportedly the most gilled mushroom in the arctic. info from the the book, "National Audubon Society field guid to Mushrooms"
