Description:

A female, 4 inch wide adult moth that was laying eggs. The females have smaller antennae than the males, who have very big feathery antennae to help them to pick up the scent of the pheramone that the female emits in order to attract her mate.

Habitat:

Mixed conifer forests

Notes:

The species lays its eggs on specific host plants including buckbrush, manzanita, madrone, willow, alder and mountain mahogany
