Lycid beetle

Trichalus kershawi

Description:

This lycid was found in the same area as a longicorn (longhorn) beetle which matches it very well. Definitely a case of Batesian mimicry on part of the longicorn. About 25mm long.

Notes:

This species seems a visual match for this longicorn http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/105... and might be Trichalus kershawi but that one is only found on King Island?
