Outstanding series and iguana Scott! It is amazing how it mimics the desert´s colors; I hope they never have to mimic left over industrialized objects that may be lying around as in the third picture. Greetings

They are lovely lizards and most are fairly tame. They are one of my favorite lizards in California. Thanks Peter for the spotting of the day and Lori.tas for the fun story.

Cool. I had one of these as a pet when I was a child. He (?) used to snuggle down to sleep on my chest (or even sometimes on the cat), or run up my pant leg, then up my shirt and finally my hair, to perch on the top of my head. He had free run of my room, and a terrarium for at night. He lived about 10 years.

Scott, thanks for sharing your encounter with this incredible lizard! Congrats, your photo has been chosen as Spotting of the Day!

"For today's Spotting of the Day, we head down to San Diego, California, to check out the Desert Iguana. The ghostly Desert Iguana inhabits the dried, arid Soronan and Mojava deserts. They are known as the "thirsty lizard" because they can withstand high temperatures. They are out and about after other lizards have retreated into their burrows."
