Southern Leopard Frog

Lithobates sphenocephalus

Description:

A medium-sized frog with rounded and oblong spots on the back. The raised dorsolateral folds are distinct from eye to groin. Dark markings on hind legs appear as broken bars or elongated spots. The center of the tympanum usually has a white spot.

Habitat:

I spotted this individual in a flooded ditch. Southern Leopard Frogs utilize a wide variety of habitats: lakes, ponds, swamps, rivers, creeks, etc.
