Schizophyllum commune
Beautiful, white, fuzzy fruiting bodies that were only about 5-10mm wide. They were fan/shell-shaped. The upper surface was dry and was covered with small hairs. The underside had gill-like folds that split down the middle. The flesh was tough and white.
Growing on a dead branch (on the ground) in a deciduous forest.
Although it is considered inedible in the United States and Europe, this species is widely consumed in other parts of the world. Also, it may have immunomodulatory, antifungal, and antiviral properties.

Yes, which is so unusual since it's a basidomycetous fungus!
Gotta love Schizophyllum commune! Have you read all of the wild stories about this fungus colonizing human tissues (mostly in the immuno-compromised)?
