Favolaschia calocera
Very prolific. Found covering lots of rotting logs.
These are great shots! Love this fungus! Cool colour, looks like orange peel :)
Ha, too true! I feel so guilty going to the park without her - looks like I'll have to start making two trips :-)
As they say in movies AND spottings - 'Never work with children or animals' :)
Thanks everyone.
@Leuba, I will have to go back and get more shots of the underside. Unfortunately my puppy was a little too impatient for my interest in photography when she wanted to go and play in the park so I was a bit rushed!
You're right about the interesting world spread. These are regarded invasive in NZ - it's suspected they are displacing native NZ fungi. In Aus. they were only first seen in 2005. The Gondwanan history is interesting. You might have a look at Christiane's ones in Qld. too. They really ARE orange.
Rachel here is perfect match of your spotting...

Rachael, what a great spotting ! - The Boulevard must have heaps of interesting fungi. Do you have any shots of the underside?- this is a fascinating fungus !
Great photos too !
Thanks ArgyBee. The ground is covered in these lovely orange fungi, it's quite a sight. Interesting that it is only found in found in Madagascar, New Zealand, Italy and Australia - seems rather random and spread out.
