Scaly-breasted Munia

Lonchura punctulata

Description:

Though I found some adult species I found mostly the immature birds. The immature birds lack the nutmeg color and most of the scaled feathers. In the 3rd image shows one just starting to get the scales. and the 4th and last photo of how they are just light brown on top and a creamy color below.

Habitat:

Shrubs and grasses.

Notes:

Though I posted these species before, this is in a different area. These kept company with Northern Red Bishop. These birds have spread through most of the LA to Baja. Even some have traveled north to San Jose, CA. I am combining two flocks I found in the Huntington Beach/Long Beach area.
