Brown Thrasher

Toxostoma rufum

Description:

Beautiful red brown wings, Large bird, with long tail. Long pointed beak. the Brown Thrasher has one of the largest song repertoires of any North American bird.

Habitat:

Often seen 'thrashing' about in the leaf litter. I always thought they were searching for insects to eat, but this one was going for bigger game. One of my precious green anoles falls prey. In the first photo, it appears the anole was fighting back, but of course in the end the Thrasher won. Hope to be posting a video of the lizard chase and catch soon.
