A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ichneumon orphion?
Found in the grass and wildflower lot behind the barn. (it's old pasture lot that we mow three times a year to keep trees from growing, and to keep it as a wild grass land habitat for the deer, rabbits, field mice and insects.)
picture of the habitat shown as second photo.
many wild species of wild flowers grow in this grass land habitat, buttercup, astor, black eyed susan, dandelion, to name just a few. We also leave sections unmowed to allow for golden rod and thistle growth.
