Eurhinus magnificus
Beetle of the Curculionidae family (weevils).
I believe this is Eurhinus magnificus - I know this species is present in Costa Rica. But I have not found much information on other Eurhinus species. I have not been able to rule out other Eurhinus species in Costa Rica.

Very surreal. I did not know that such a creature existed. This looks almost mechanical - man made even -and is one of the many wonders that South America holds. Great shot!
