Just call me Argy. If you look carefully at all those google pics you might see some that are very similar like this one ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/kjbeath/603...

then you might just decide that it is mycena but you can't be certain of which one. Then it is ok to say that it is 'Mycena sp.' (Mycena species)

hi mr bee,

i done a google search with 'mycena australia'. however it comes up with a lot of mushis in difference colors and shapes...

any suggestion?

btw, they are about 30mm tall

I think this is a Mycena species.
You could search for 'mycena australia' in google images.
