Flatheaded Poplar Borer

Description:

The Flathead Poplar borer is a large species of jewel beetles. Females lay their eggs under the bark of bigtooth aspen (Populus grandidentata). The larva will develop and remain in the tree trunks for 2 - 5 years.

Habitat:

Throughout Canada & the U.S. Larvae in bigtooth aspen (Populus grandidentata), adults on other Populus spp.
