Muscovy Duck (domestic variety)

Cairina moschata

Notes:

A domestic form of Muscovy Duck seen in the creek near the Roma Tourist Information Centre. Wild Muscovy Ducks are native to Mexico and Central/South America. There was a huge number of these non-native ducks and geese hanging around there with native ducks... perhaps they are escaped or released farm animals. They certainly seem to be doing well there, they all look very healthy.
