banana stalk fly

Description:

An unidentified species of banana stalk fly.

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard and garden in close proximity to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

Notes:

Definitely not a stilt-legged fly (Micropezidae) with those seriously englarged fore tibia but a banana stalk fly (Neriidae http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neriidae ). One would think those aforementioned swollen tibia would give it away...
