Western Pygmy Blue Butterfly

Description:

Wingspan .5"...this is the smallest butterfly in the Mojave. Markings as shown.

Habitat:

This is a desert dweller, but I have spotted this species in gardens and non-native plants. This one is hard to spot because of its size, as well as staying close to the ground. It winters in desert habitats, and seems to survive even the colder temps in mid-winter.
