Pineapple Sea Cucumber

Description:

It can grow up to 70 cm long. It has shades in brown to red. Cylindrical body with numerous often branched elongate star-shaped conical papillae in groups of two or three all over the surface of its body. Due to intense commercial exploitation it is listed as endangered by the IUCN.

Habitat:

East Reef Wreck, Lankayan, Sabah.

Congratulations Marta! Really neat and interesting. I didn't know Sea Cucumbers had "arms"! I would have thought they were starfish.

Thank you Lisa! I was also surprised to see that is an endangered species. I am happy that can still be found in Lankayan and I hope that is not fished in there.
