European Mole Cricket

Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa

Description:

The Mole Cricket is part of the family of grasshoppers, locusts and crickets. This one was around 5cm long and could certainly scuttle along, I had a real job trying to keep up with him to get a decent photo. They have very small eyes compared to the size of their heads. Their legs look very muscular. This one was on the footpath that runs along side our local beach.
