Common Raven

Corvus corax

Description:

One of my all time favorite birds! Very large... over two feet long. Jet black all over, shiny black. Voice is a low guttural "craaank". VERY intelligent.

Habitat:

These ravens are everywhere, much to my delight. They were in the canyons of AZ and UT, up through Idaho, and still all over the place way up at 10,000 ft above sea level.

Notes:

This fellow (?) was casually strolling around a parking lot, waiting for someone to get out of their car. Then he'd hop/walk over and inspect the ground for crumbs! Smart fellow. I named him "Edgar". LOL. I loved playing with that first photo.... looks like it belongs in an Edgar Allen Poe collection. :)
