Indian pipe

Monotropa uniflora

Description:

I thought it was a fungus but it is a plant. Indian pipe. Unlike most plants, it is white and does not contain chlorophyll. Since it is not dependent on sunlight to grow, it can grow in very dark environments as in the understory of dense forest which is exactly how it is in the temperate rain forest of Olympic National Park.

Habitat:

It grows in very dark environments as in the understory of dense forest
