Sphagnum Moss

Sphagnum sp.

Description:

The red stood out from a mile away and it looked fern-like.

Habitat:

When I went closer I realized the soil underneath was soggy...it was near a source of flowing water but not on its bank or on the edge of it or anything...it was lucky my feet did not sink too far but my shoes did get wet...so it was camera zoom to the rescue.

Thank you, Machi. I always like it when I can complete a spotting....had heard about Sphagnum moss...first time I saw it.

Thank you, Christine Y. The red was really bright and it stood out as a large patch against the brown of the soil and green of the grass.
