@Goody I did some looking based on your suggestion and indeed it appears to be a female Strangalia famelica solitaria! Thanks so much for the ID help!
This suggestion is not 100% by any means. I just read way more about this genus than I thought I would ever have. :-) It appears as though yours could be Strangalia famelica, and being west of the Appalachians, that would make it the solitaria subspecies (S. famelica famelica is east of the Appalachians). Also, males have a protruding abdominal tip, so based on the images I've looked at, I would say your spotting is a female.
