Arsipoda sp.

Description:

Larger than the flea beetle ....and highly metallic blue

Habitat:

on rush grass in an open grassy field. A lot where mating today. ( end of december 2014)

Notes:

Arsipoda sp. (possibly undescribed) - this metallic-blue beetle is often confused with the Metallic Flea Beetle (Altica pagana). Arsipoda have elytra with puntures in longitudinal series whereas Altica have elytral punctures confused, and never in series. This Arsipoda species is often found on sedge/rush and is not restricted to higher altitudes as in Altica pagana.
