Bird's Foot Violet

Description:

Herbaceous perennial violet that is lilac/purple in color. Bird's foot violet features deeply divided leaves which somewhat resemble a bird's foot.

Habitat:

Native to Eastern North America. Commonly occurs in dryish soil. This one was observed growing in a sandy area in a sandhills habitat at the Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve near Windsor (Aiken County), SC.
