I added two more photos, taken an hour layer. We had some brief rain & the flower closed and there were eggs underneath.

Thanks for the ID! That's it. I've seen these flowers all my life and never knew what to call them.

Hi freelancing, I'm not 100% sure on the ID since I can't see the leaves. Take a look at the reference and see if it looks the same as the plant you saw.
