Woolly Bear Moth

Areas galactina

Description:

A white moth with unique black patterns. About 2cm in length. Black patterns on wings consist of 2 big "X", thick and thin lines, dots. Red marks are found on the head and a red dot on the back of it's thorax. Black legs and antennae.

Habitat:

Highland forest of Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

Another moth I photographed in Aristo inn at night. Aristo inn becomes a moth museum every night but less moths now because of the changes of climate, more lights from other buildings and the different management of of the inn now. ID is quite tough for this one, no result from Google and Flickr so I have to search one by one from www.mothsofborneo.com and found this distinct species - Areas galactina. >>>Map accuracy : 50m diameter.
