Scabiosa japonica alba
This is the seed head of Scabiosa sp. Pic 2 shows the flower and 3 shows the arrangement of petals on the seed head. These make excellent additions to flower arrangements.

The flower is the pincushion flower. It's seed head is quite pretty and artistic isn't it?

Thanks Ryan. It took me a year to really ID this. I found these seed heads last year. Had no idea what they were. There were no flowers, which made it even more difficult. i finally was so frustrated,i deleted the spotting!
This time , I spotted it along with the flowers,and that made it so much more easier.
