St. Andrew's Cross Spider

Argiope versicolor

Description:

Another Argiope spider spotting. This female is about 11mm. No zigzag X-shaped bands on it's web yet. Reddish brown head and legs with white hairs. Abdomen : bands of yellow, white, dark red, black. Looks like a face of a man with sunglasses. Easily mistaken with Argiope pulchella by it's appearance.

Habitat:

Between plant stems along Poring Hot Springs's walkway, Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

Argiope versicolor is quite common in Ranau Hotsprings but so far I still could not get a single clear photograph of it. >>>Map accuracy : 3km radius.
