Citheronia regalis
This caterpillar was about 127 mm (5 in) long! It becomes a Regal Moth.
The huge caterpillar was found on a 'tree of heaven' on the edge of the woods. I'm not sure if it was eating the tree though.
Saturniidae, Ceratocampinae, Citheronia regalis, also called Regal Moth.
