A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Buteo jamaicensis
Wild Red-tailed Hawk with Rock Pigeon prey (Columba livia). The hawk killed the pigeon on the ground, then flew to the roof of the car to eat it. (Afterwards, I cleaned off the car window.)
Urban neighborhood.
The hawk sat right on the car eating the pigeon for a long time, and allowed people to come quite close to it.

Thank you! He didn't leave much of the pigeon, fortunately!
Absolutely wonderful spotting! Juveniles who are raised in Urban centers or areas are fairly brave and not all that afraid of humans. Although had anyone attempted to take his meal they would have found something quite different. lol hope the mess wasn't too bad on the car. :-)
Thanks! I'm glad he sat still for pictures but do hope he learned to eat in a safer location as he got older. Added him to the mission :)
Oh...would you please add him to the Raptors of North America mission?:
