Six-spotted Fishing Spider

Dolomedes triton

Habitat:

Semi-aquatic; live in wetland habitats such as ponds, lake shores, and can also inhabit slow-moving streams. Found throughout the contiguous United States and southern Canada, more common east of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. They can also be found in Central America and South America.

Notes:

Spotted while hiking the southern end of the Florida Trail off of Oasis Visitor Center in the Big Cypress Preserve. There was plenty of water on the trail in certain areas on this date. Crossing a section with water mid calf, I noticed this thing walking or skimming on the surface of the water. To my surprise it was a little spider.
