Pronghorn

Antilocapra americana

Description:

Light brown antelope with white sides, bellies, and rumps. Males have unique 'pronged' horns.

Habitat:

Field

Notes:

We were very surprised to see this herd so close to our home. Normally they stay out on the prairie, but they must have wandered up from the river bottom and found the nice hay fields pretty welcoming.

Pretty Skittish is an understatement for Prong Horn! LOL. It's so cool they were close enough for you to get these great quality images! :-)

If anyone has ever seen one of these in the wild, they will understand. Great Eyesight, superb hearing and massive amounts of speed, keep these awesome animals out of harms way. (along with being wary of any human within 300 yards!) lol
