Eucalyptus stem weevil

Gonipterus sp.

Description:

About 6mm long this one looks very similar to Gonipterus genus but has some differences like striated wing covers and a lack of protruding shoulders. A very good colour match to the stems of the gum tree suggests it was at 'home'.

Habitat:

Glenfern valley nature reserve.

Notes:

Probably Gonipterus sp. but one I haven't seen this one before.
