Cammie, I think this one is safe for the season, no beard, and no spurs, short snood, and no wattle, which points to a hen. Only Toms or Gobblers are hunted in the spring seasons across the USA. depending on the time of day you spotted her, she could have either been heading to her nest, or coming from her nest. :-)
