My son helped me spot this one :)
Eurasian Tree Sparrows have too much red-brown on the head. And they don't live in North Carolina.
I think it is an Eurasian Tree Sparrow. The House Sparrow does not have the white line on the wings as far as I know. They are mixed quite often.
