Common Bottlenose Dolphin

Tursiops truncatus

Description:

A few shots of a common bottlenose dolphin dorsal fin, Tursiops truncatus. These dolphins are very common throughout the waters of coastal central Florida. This individual was photographed in the Turner Flats at JB' Fish Camp just south of New Smyrna Beach. Bottlenose dolphins (along with manatees) are frequently seen in the area. As for identification, I'm relying on others here. I've been told many times that this is a bottlenose. I can't really speak to it myself, but instead rely on the identification of others!
